Founded in 2014, Dr Mark’s HyGenie provides a range of world-first products designed for the home and institutional care of removable oral dental appliances. In 2018, the Sydney-based start-up began manufacturing and distributing in Australia. Rapid growth has seen interest for its products in multiple territories worldwide, including the United States, Germany and Japan. Dr Mark’s HyGenie currently operates in three territories, with an interest to expand into nine more over the next 24 months.
Seeking Enterprise resource planning (ERP) that can scale with global ambitions
As a micro start-up, Dr Mark’s HyGenie was looking for an ERP that would enable and support the company’s rapidly growing global aspirations, said CEO and Managing Director, Steve Plakotaris.

Automating the end-to-end sales process

“Our multiple e-commerce channels, including Amazon, are seamlessly integrated in a single platform – from the shopping cart and payment gateways, to receiving stock availability notifications.”
“Sage X3 will save us considerable time and effort in the future. We will be able to integrate new distributors into a single platform, instead of having to set them up on separate platforms.”
Saving significant time with automated customer communications
The company estimates that Sage X3 has helped it cut down the time it spends on manual processes by one day per week.
Its customer loyalty email programme is now fully automated in Sage X3. Communications are automatically sent to its previous customers to remind them to reorder.
Plakotaris added: “Thanks to Sage X3’s API integration capabilities, we can use Mail Chimp to send communications. All updates that come through Mail Chimp are automatically updated in Sage X3.
“Sage X3 has helped us cut down the time we spend on manual processes by the equivalent of one day per week.”
Eliminating manual data entry with customer orders
As a merchant-fulfiled Amazon customer, Dr Mark’s HyGenie can now process Amazon orders quickly and easily.
This is thanks to the customisation Turnaround Services Global made to its instance of Sage X3.
Plakotaris said: “When we received a CSV order file previously, we had to manually enter the data into our system. Now we can simply drag and drop the file into Sage X3.
“It takes about 25 seconds, as opposed to around three minutes previously. This efficiency boost has helped us avoid those additional costs in time spent.”.
